The importance of balanced nutrition

Let’s talk food and water! As we go through our daily routines, one of the most important things for us to do is to eat and drink.

What fuel do you put into your body?

How many calories do you put into your body each day?

Do you get enough exercise to burn those calories and are you putting on fat or muscle because of the calories you receive and the amount of physical activity you accomplish each day.

I could list thousands of different resources on what to eat and what not to eat. What diets to follow, and on and on! But, for now, we’re going to make it easy on you.

Don’t overdo the sugars, starches, fried foods, and overall just be mindful in general to not over indulge on any one thing that is calorically heavy because of processing. If you eat more than your body burns, and you’re not exercising, then you’re going to store it as fat.

Monitoring your caloric intake, especially over the winter, is important if you’d rather not come into Spring feeling a little fluffy. Be mindful to not overeat, especially with the holidays approaching, get some physical activity and movement in because staying fit or getting fit is better for your system.

Also, in our members forum, did you know that under the “Common Interest Group” there are pages on Farm and Garden, where you can learn to raise your own animals, grow your own vegetables, and there is also a page on Food Preservation and Cooking.

People are constantly posting things on how to grow food, how to cook and store it, and healthy and yummy recipes.
